Our Story
Kevin had only been living in Boston for a month when he agreed to be a last-minute sub in his roommate’s kickball game one night in October, 2012. Lauren, a member of the team’s starting lineup, took notice of the newcomer’s Connecticut sweatshirt, and approached Kevin to learn more. Naturally the two hit it off immediately. Some say Kevin became noticeably more focused on Lauren than his contribution to the game (final score unknown).
A few months later, Kevin and Lauren met again on a ski trip to Sunday River. It was freezing cold that weekend, and when it appeared no one was motivated to ski, Kevin was pleasantly surprised when Lauren joined him on the slopes.
Despite learning that they hailed from very different sides of Connecticut (Lauren from Yankees/Giants territory vs. Kevin from Red Sox/Patriots nation), Kevin asked Lauren out on an official date. The two started seeing each other regularly, and eventually Lauren introduced Kevin to such concepts as food other than red meat - like quinoa - and riding the T.
Love overcame their deep-routed sports rivalry. On February 20th, 2017, Kevin proposed to Lauren by surprising her at their favorite restaurant in Boston, Grille 23.
